Engineered Stone

Engineered stone is a technology inspired by nature, bringing a slice of the natural world into one’s own home. Engineered stone is a composite material comprising quartz and a resin compound. Formed under huge pressure the stone is very strong and provides a hard, attractive and durable work surface.

With many colours and textures available these products are fast gaining in popularity and are often preferred over granite products because they require less maintenance and have better resistance to stains and bacterial contamination.

High Pressure Laminates

Laminate has come a very long way over the years. There is now a large range of brands, colours and textures. The latest colour range includes patterns that are similar to natural stone, concrete and wood grain.

Often it is difficult to visually tell the difference, so these laminates can be an economical alternative. Laminate consists of about 60-70% paper and about 30-40% thermosetting resins.

There are two different types of thermosetting resins used; the inner layers of paper are impregnated with phenolic resin and the outer layers with melamine.

Acrylic Solid Surface

Acrylic solid surfaces are made of acrylic resin and natural materials. They can be shaped as desired and generally formed in one piece, so they are seamless. They are extremely stain resistant and very strong.

Acrylic sinks can be integrated into the benchtop leaving a pristine clean look.

This product is widely used for countertops, vanity tops and used frequently in commercial projects such as banks, restaurants and healthcare.
